our 2016 team
Meet the members of our 2016 Australia team! Read their bios and testimonies below to learn more about them and how God used the trip to impact their lives.
Amy Adkins
As part of the Team Australia 2015 team, Amy Adkins is excited to be returning to Australia again this summer. Last year’s trip was such a blessing to me as I was able to serve the Lord, especially with the children’s ministries, and grow in many ways. Each of the ministries and people I met along the way touched me deeply. Australia will forever have a piece of my heart. She is now a K4 teacher at Pensacola Christian Academy and loving every minute! As the trip approaches, Amy can hardly wait to see what opportunities, blessings, and lessons the Lord has for her this next summer!
Rebecca Dickerson
Rebecca or “Becca” is 21 years old from Shelbyville, Tennessee. She graduates with her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in May. She lived in Europe for four years and she is looking forward to visiting another continent. She enjoys being outside, playing sports (mainly basketball and soccer), and she loves any activity that can be enjoyed with others. She loves being part of a team and does her best to support it as best she can. Becca is excited to see how God will use her to influence the lives of others around her as well as growing spiritually herself.
Micah Farmer
When someone meets me, they may see a Tennessean male who loves to play sports. Even though I love sports, food, and fellowship with others, there is nothing special about me. However, I am only special because Jesus Christ lives in my heart! In my life, I feel the calling from God to be a youth pastor one day, for teenagers need to be reached and ministered for Jesus Christ. I am so excited about this missions trip, for I want God to use this missions trip in ways that I can not even fathom! I serve an amazing God! I can not wait to see what He has in store for me in summer 2016!
Christy Hang Tuah
Christy Hang Tuah is a senior Accounting major with a Management minor. She is excited to graduate in May 2016 and to go back to Australia for her second mission trip. She loves Australia and the wonderful people that she met last summer; those made her fall in love with Australia even more. The Lord has given her another opportunity to return and thus she has decided to go back. Christy went on the Australia mission trip in 2015 and experienced what it was like to truly serve others. She will never forget the opportunities God presented for sharing the love of Christ. Whether it was helping with chores or helping with children’s ministries, she learned that even though labor is sometimes difficult, the rewards can have eternal blessings. Christy is looking forward to going back to Australia to continue serving God in any new ministries God has for the team.
Gloria Hunter
Gloria has lived a colorful life: first living in New York City, second Antarctica, then sailing to Madagascar, and finally joining a traveling circus touring Europe and America. Wow, that’s an impressive biography, but unfortunately, it’s not mine. I believe it belongs to a different Gloria—a certain hippopotamus in the kid’s movie, Madagascar. Although I have never been stranded on a tropical island, I do love to travel, and cannot wait to visit Australia in the summer. This Gloria is actually a junior Professional Writing major with a Missions minor from Hartselle, Alabama. In addition to traveling, I love drinking sweet tea (hot or cold) and cuddling up with a good book. Because I am half-Australian, my heart is closely linked to Aussies, and it is my earnest desire to shape their eternal destinies for Christ.
Rebekah King
Rebekah King is a senior nursing major from Pensacola Christian College. Her goal is to be a cardiac or orthopedic nurse in her beautiful home state of Colorado after graduating in May 2016. She grew up loving old movies and playing classical piano. With her parent’s wise instruction, Rebekah also grew up participating in community service projects and found an appreciation for helping other people, whether it was a women’s rescue mission, foodbanks, or children’s ministry opportunities. Rebekah is very excited to graduate and then go to Australia for her very first mission trip! James 1:5–6 “If any of one lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering…” are the verses Rebekah likes to claim when situations go different than planned. She likes to encourage other people going through hard times with these verses. Her reminder though is, “Remember, when you ask for wisdom, don’t forget to ask in faith.”
Suzanne Kozar
I’m 22 years old and a Senior studying Humanities. I enjoy reading, cooking, soccer, being adventurous, and spending time with friends and family. As I was praying about what the Lord would have me to do this summer, I felt the strong desire to apply for Team Australia. I have had the wonderful opportunity of working teen camp for several years at Pensacola Christian College’s Teen Extreme Camp but have always wanted to go on a missions trip. While looking through the various countries that Youth Outreach Ministry’s summer mission trips offered, God laid a distinct burden on my heart for Australia. When the Lord opened the door for me to go, I was both nervous and excited!! I’m truly blessed at the thought of being able to serve in Australia! I hope to be able to not only be an influence on the many ministries we will be working in, but also that God will use the ministries to mold my walk with Him.
Tim Krug
Growing up in the beautiful state of Pennsylvania, the Lord allowed me to enjoy hunting, fishing, and hiking as well as beekeeping and tapping trees for maple syrup! Now the Lord has called me to go to Australia a second time! As a senior Mission’s major at PCC, I have always wondered what the practical, every day mission’s work is for a missionary. This year God has opened the doors for me to do two internships in Australia in addition to the 2016 Australian mission’s trip. My desire is to daily walk with the Lord and follow His will for my life because I realize my life is no longer mine but His to control.
Aaron Palmer
The Lord has definitely led me to this trip! Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Since my freshman year I have had a desire to go on a mission trip to Australia, and that desire has come true. I really thought that God wanted me to intern at a church this summer. I have even contacted a few churches, but things did not work out with them. I did not give up though, because this summer will be the last summer before I graduate with my Pastoral Ministries degree. Because of that, I really thought that God wanted me to get experience in pastoral ministries. God had better plans for my summer, and I am glad that He showed them to me and that I followed them! Going to Australia this summer will be an amazing opportunity of many different types of ministry. I am VERY excited about this mission trip!
